Passion for Silk, Porcelain and Tea – workshop revealing the culture of the south of China

November 4 @ 4:30 pm - November 5 @ 9:00 pm CET

Invited by China Cultural Center in Copenhagen,  a group of delegation from Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Center will come, and bring us an exhibition of silk, porcelain and tea. The artists from Zhejiang will also interact and teach people how to make embroidery and kiln, at the same time you can also enjoy tea.

Hangzhou Embroidery

In embroidery techniques, Hangzhou embroidery absorbs and combines advantages of four famous embroideries in China, which are Suzhou embroidery, Hunan embroidery, Sichuan embroidery and Guangdong embroidery, and forms its own unique style with changeable techniques. For the design of Hangzhou embroidery patterns, most of the them are selected from the popular Chinese folk arts, such as dragon, phoenix, kylin, bat, peacock, peony, peach, ruyi, the eight diagram, west lake scenery and other traditional patterns. There is another major feature of Hangzhou embroidery, to use exaggeration and deformation on the decoration patterns.

Porcelain of Wuzhou Kiln

The decoration of Wuzhou kiln porcelain is simple, and all of them are carved patterns, with elegant and generous style. Wuzhou kiln has its own unique shape. Celadon is the main porcelain of Wuzhou kiln, others using black glaze, brown glaze, fancy glaze, opacified glaze and colored drawing. With Jinhua’s unique chrismatite as part of glaze, and strictly standardized 72 procedures, so there is the only jade-green glaze in China.

Tea Review & Tea Ceremony

There is a variety of methods to classify Chinese tea. According to the production methods and the fermentation of tea. Chinese tea can be divided into six categories: green tea (non-fermented), white tea (mild fermentation), yellow tea (light fermentation), oolong tea (partially fermented), dark tea (post-fermented), black tea (complete fermentation).
